Letter from Sister Maureen about our upcoming retreat:

March 16, 2024:

Dear Emmaus Community retreat participants,

It is always quite an honor to be invited back to offer another retreat experience for a community I have been with before. And so I feel the privilege of being with you once again and hope God blesses each of you anticipating the retreat as I have felt Her/Him bless me in my preparation days.

This April’s retreat will offer an opportunity to explore the ways in which, over our lifetime, God graces us with life experiences-- within which we can sense both “anchorage and migration”. It will be time to explore those various ways in which God “sets the scenes” for both the anchorages (our foundations, our “places of launching”)  and our migrations (our movements deeper and beyond what we have known).

The days will be interactive and reflective as well as offer time for solitude, rest and wandering!

We will begin with dinner together on Wednesday evening and at the end of dinner I will do a short overview of the 2 ½ days. We start the retreat experience on Thursday Morning and I will tell you more about that Wednesday evening.

Travel safely and come prepared for either gorgeous or not so gorgeous weather—so be it in Carmel, beautiful no matter!! We will hopefully have weather that permits Morning Praise outdoors-- so come with sturdy shoes.

I will be glad to see all of you again and share God’s presence with you in so many ways.

To Holy Ground we come. . .

Much care,

Sr. Maureen

With love and remembrance from Victoria:

Here is a photo of Beth...today is her birthday...and she LOVED to celebrate her day!

And I am thinking of all the other "great cloud of witnesses" that are encircling our Emmaus Community right now, offering us strength and peace as we each face the challenges of our times and culture. So grateful for our Emmaus Community!

Covid is still with us -- and I this note from our dear friends Jim and JoAnn:

Jim and I tested positive for Covid today. Jim’s symptoms started at the piano on Sunday and on Wednesday we tested, but used expired kits to test and came out negative. Symptoms for me are pretty bad, so bought new kits today and tested positive. I hugged so many people at Emmaus, that I am nervous about giving it to others.🌠💕🥲.

If you feel sick please test for Covid. Please use a test that hasn't expired.
