November 8, 2023: What happens to a dream deferred?

Wednesday, November 8, 2023: What happens to a dream deferred? - Harlem a poem by Langston Hughes

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up

like a raisin in the sun?

Or fester like a sore—

And then run?

Does it stink like rotten meat?

Or crust and sugar over—

like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags

like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?

Harlem

BY LANGSTON HUGHES

A Prayer for peace in Israel and Gaza

Spirit of all that is Holy,

We pray for the many people whose lives have been torn apart by conflict in Gaza and Israel.

We pray especially those who have died, those who are grieving, the injured and those now without food, shelter or medical supplies. Strengthen and support the work of all relief organisations.

We pray also for those who have the power to bring peace. May they be touched by a spirit of compassion and kindness. May they call an end to this madness

Open our hearts so we can open the hearts of others. we pray in the power of your Spirit, and through our brother Jesus whom we call the Prince of Peace
