We mourn the passing of John Poole's sister Jeanne:
Dear Sisters and Brothers: I received news from John Poole that his sister Jeanne passed away in Chicago a few days ago. It was my good fortune to take this photo of John and Jeanne just a few months ago. Jeanne was a very hopeful person who loved life and was so proud of her brother John. She visited with us at Emmaus several times and she found a warm welcome each time she visited. Please keep John and his family in your prayers. We'll find out more about Jeanne in the next few days and I think it would be wonderful to celebrate her life at an Emmaus liturgy.

More news: Mary FitzGerald asks for prayers for Ed:
I received this voicemail from our dear sister Nancy McFarland yesterday afternoon:
Hey David, it's Nancy McFarland I'm Mary asked me to give you a call. Ed fell last night and broke his hip. Mary wanted me to let you know if you could get word out to pray for him and that his surgery goes well.
Update: Ed had surgery at Kaiser and according to Nancy it was successful! Please remember Ed in your prayers and I'll try to find out where we can send get-well cards.
Here's their address:

I have read and re-read the lines of this poem written by Ed. It is part of our Celebration on Sunday, August 11th. Simply amazing!
Alpha
Love of the three in One.
Let there be light!
Love so powerful, beyond all comprehension, energy bursting forth in a new creation
Christ incarnate as matter, relationally evolving,
Subatomic particles unite as atoms, atoms as molecules
molecules as cells, cells as organisms
plants, animals, us
Emergence.
Greater complexity, something new, more complex, more conscious,
by the union of the less complex, less conscious.
Omega – a final point of divine union
all We, all Christ, all love in One.
