December 17, 2023: Creating liturgies is a special trait of our Beloved Emmaus Community.

A note from Steve and Dan - Liturgy Committee leaders:

Thank you all for your participation and willingness to create liturgies. This is a special trait of our Beloved Emmaus Community. Please let me know if there are errors and I can update the schedule. We will meet again on Thursday, April 11th at 5pm to schedule the second half of the 2024 schedule.

Also, Dan Vrooman is working on confirmation of a retreat in Carmel on April 17th and April 18th. Stay tuned.

Thanks again for your commitment to meaningful liturgies.

Sincerely, Dan & Steve

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Dan Vrooman opened the Liturgy Committee meeting with this beautiful poem from the 14th Century Persian poet Hafiz:

LIFTS BEYOND CONCEPTION

Independent

Of this body is my mind

When the call from the Golden Nightingale

Lifts and pours my being throughout

The Sky.

Independent of this mind is my

Heart

When God unfurls even a shadow of His tress

Upon my bare shoulder.

Sovereign of my illuminated heart

Is the indivisible knowledge

in the gaze of my spirit’s wings climbing to

Such a sublime height they each

Become the Sun

Itself

And reside—perched beyond every throne

Known to human.

Hafiz,

This Sufi path of love is so astoundingly

Glorious

That

One day each

Wayfarer upon it will become

The Inconceivable---

The Creator of God Himself.

Hafiz, was a Persian lyric poet whose collected works are regarded by many Iranians as one of the highest pinnacles of Persian literature. His works are often found in the homes of Persian speakers, who learn his poems by heart and use them as everyday proverbs and sayings. His life and poems have become the subjects of much analysis, commentary, and interpretation, influencing post-14th century Persian writing more than any other Persian author.
