Announcements: Tithing, Synod and more!

EMMAUS TITHING NOMINATIONS: We’re gifting to Non-Profits that need our help
We are so blessed. And we are happy to give away our money! At Emmaus we give away most of the money we collect from the donations given by members of the community. Only a small portion of these donations pays our rent, insurance and the costs for our musician(s). We have been especially fortunate in that St. Patrick’s has dramatically reduced our rent to $100 per month during the pandemic and we paid Doug Harmon a one time flat fee of $500 for the entire catalog of music he and Dana Couey created.
Peter Schneider leads our tithing committee, and he has asked that we decide on which 501 C3 organizations we’ll support this year. (Please note that Emmaus can donate only to other non-profits - not to individuals.) These non-profits can be local (City or County), or national or international. See the list below for those non-profits we have supported in the past.
We have about $10,000 to give away.
The process is simple:
1. Fill out the form and return it by mail or email to Peter. His home address is:
6270 Anderson Road
Forestville, Ca 95436
Peter’s email is
2. Please submit only one nomination by Sunday April 3rd, 2022.
The tithing committee will meet to discuss and agree on this year’s recipients.
3. We’ll announce the results on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022

Let your voice rise up! An International Survey of Catholic Women is gathering feedback for the Synod 2021 - 2023!
The International Survey of Catholic Women is gathering feedback for Synod 2021-2023. It is a collaborative project of Catholic Women Speak, the Catholic Women's Council, the University of Newcastle in Australia, and the University of Roehampton in London. It is available online through the REDCap survey platform, and it has been granted Ethics Approval by the University of Newcastle. It is available in six languages - English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Polish. The creators are hoping to gather up to 10,000 responses from Catholic women around the world.
Deadline to complete is April 26, 2022!
The survey was launched on March 8th and the deadline for submission of responses is April 26, 2022. The responses will be analyzed and submitted to the Vatican by the August deadline for feedback to the Synod.
Please complete the survey if you identify as a Catholic or have ever identified as a Catholic. And please feel free to share it widely. There are separate pages with links for each of the six languages. Here is the link:

The 2023 Synod of Bishops in Rome may be one of the most important events in the life of the Church since Vatican II. Pope Francis has asked bishops and church leaders to gather the "sense of the faithful" on a wide variety of important issues. And he has made provisions for the many Catholics who are excluded and who may not be heard because their bishops are not engaging in the process in a meaningful way. This is a very important and a prime opportunity to walk together and help shape the future of the church.
The first phase of this process began at the local level in October 2021 and will continue until August 2022. The input that is gathered in this first phase will be sent to the Synod of Bishops in Rome so that they can develop a working document for their international gathering of bishops in October 2023.
FutureChurch will join this effort. We will be holding discernment sessions, carefully gathering your faith-filled insights on the issues you care about most, and putting together a report with your input to send to Rome as they prepare the initial working document.
We will:
1. Hold our discernment sessions on Wednesdays during Lent/
2. Compile your ideas on a number of topic into one report during the time between Easter and Pentecost.
3. Send our report with your discernment to the Synod office in Rome, to the U.S. bishops and the USCCB, and to the Apostolic nuncio on Pentecost, as a contribution to the worldwide synod, and as a symbol of our active witness to the Spirit of Pentecost in our Church today.
Please plan on joining us for these important discernment sessions. Your voice is critical as we shape the future church together.
