Irene's Blessing

No matter who you are, no matter where you were,

the moment Irene first gazed at you…

you were blessed!

Wave upon wave, her love wafted over you

like summer sun on an upturned face.

Her smile welcoming and affirming;

her eyes twinkling like evenings first little star.

No matter who you are,

you were everything to her.

In that precious moment

that you stood in her gaze…

her love encircled and enfolded you.

No matter how large the crowd,

she saw only you,

and blessed you with her eyes.

Even now, her eyes are blessing you still

for she is here with us

in all the eyes you see around you.

You have only to whisper

to hear her love reverberating in the voices

of all of us gathered here today.

No matter who you are

You…you are the blessing she bestows.

Despite all our loss and grief,

You are the blessing that grows larger

With every loving, glance,

With every hearty laugh, and

With every outstretched kindness offered.

No matter who you are

It is Irene that invites each of us

to carry

her blessings of beauty, grace, love and justice forward…

out into a needy and waiting world.

No matter who you are or where you are right now,

Irene’s blessing will find you

and surround you

and assure you, that

you matter; that

you are loved…

loved, far beyond measure

today, this day, and

every day forward…
