1024: Magi arrive; They were overjoyed at seeing the star. Announcements for the New Year

Day 1024: Wednesday, January 4, 2023

They were overjoyed at seeing the star,

and on entering the house

they saw the child with Mary his mother.

And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them,

until it came and stopped over the place where the child was.

They were overjoyed at seeing the star,

and on entering the house

they saw the child with Mary his mother.

They prostrated themselves and did him homage.

Then they opened their treasures

and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod,

they departed for their country by another way.

An Invitation to Join Saint Enda Retreat 2023 Greetings! We are inviting you to join us on the Saint Enda: 100-Day Retreat in 2023. Saint Enda is a little-known Irish monk who received the teachings on the contemplative life from the monastic teachers of the Egyptian desert. In the spirit of that tradition, our focus on the retreat is to shift our attention toward the Holy One by renouncing self-centered thoughts and actions and embracing an abiding Christ consciousness. When: The retreat will begin Monday, January 30, 2023, and conclude May 9, 2023. Where: You will participate in the retreat at home, a place we can all grow more attuned to the promptings of the Holy Spirit amid our daily lives and responsibilities. How: Each Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday you will receive a voice memo in your email, which you can listen to on your computer, pad, or phone. The teachings are about 10 minutes. You can listen at your own pace over the course of the week. Leaders: Sr. Meg Funk designed this 100-day virtual retreat to substitute for a 100-day pilgrimage to holy monastic sites. She invited Kathleen Cahalan to be her co-teacher. Together we bring a monastic and lay perspective to living the contemplative life today. Teachings and Practices: We draw primarily from John Cassian’s teachings who described the spiritual journey as having four phases or renunciations. We will teach several practices that lead to purity of heart. How much? There is no fee for this retreat. You may make a free-will offering here to Our Lady of Grace Monastery in Beech Grove, Indiana, (1402 Southern Ave, Beech Grove, IN 46107) or to a charity of your choice, or do a service project. Announcement #2:

Catholic Church Refore International is inviting us to join a synodal gathering to discern updates or clarifications needed to the Document for the Continental Synod (DCS)

STAYING INVOLVED IN THE SYNODAL PROCESS It seems there are far too many bishops all around the world not holding consultations with their people. This second phase, the Continental phase, is a critical step in the process of the Synod, but only truly valuable to the extent the people continue to stay involved. We must make our voices heard.

We invite you to join a listening session to discern clarifications needed to the Document for the Continental Synod (DCS)
